Hello students, staff, parents and guardians,
At this time, it is important that we all follow the advice of the Taoiseach, his government and the medical professionals.
We note that students and teachers have really embraced the challenge of remote learning and we say a Big Thank You and Well Done to all involved.
Please be mindful when uploading and submitting work that the work is clearly visible and that the work is within the appropriate margins, so that teachers can see it all and correct it fully.
We have been in contact and consultation with our teachers and, based on their advice, we believe that this is how we should proceed from Monday, April 20th to Friday, May 1st:
1st Years and 2nd Years: Teachers may assign you work on Tuesday April 21st and Tuesday April 28th ONLY (no less than 2 hours per exam subject over the two week period). The work assigned on April 21st should be completed and returned by 11.00 a.m. on Friday, April 24th. Work assigned on April 28th should be completed and returned by 11.00 a.m. on Friday, May 1st at the latest. You can submit it earlier if you wish to do so. Then, you should take a break and rest over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
3rd Years: Teachers may assign you work on Tuesday April 21st and Tuesday April 28th ONLY (no less than 3 hours per exam subject over the two week period). The work assigned on April 21st should be completed and returned by 11.00 a.m. on Friday, April 24th. Work assigned on April 28th should be completed and returned by 11.00 a.m. on Friday, May 1st at the latest. Then, you should take a break and rest over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
4th Years / Transition Years: Teachers will NOT assign you work. You are expected to have completed your Folder of Excellence. Please note that the outstanding elements of TY that many of you have been looking forward to, e.g. driving lessons, trip to Tramore, dragon boat racing, will be rescheduled when school resumes.
5th Years: Teachers may assign you work on Monday April 20th and Monday April 27th ONLY (no less than 3 hours per exam subject over the two week period). The work assigned on April 20th should be completed and returned by 11.00 a.m. on Thursday, April 23rd. Work assigned on April 27th should be completed and returned by 11.30 a.m. on Thursday, April 30th at the latest. Then, you should take a break and rest over the May Bank Holiday weekend. You are older and more independent than Junior Cycle students. It is at your discretion how you manage your time, between helping at home, doing school work and taking a break and rest. We trust you to do this as best suits your personal circumstances.
6th Years: Teachers may assign you work on Monday April 20th and Monday April 27th ONLY (no less than 3 hours per exam subject over the two week period). The work assigned on April 20th should be completed and returned by 11.00 a.m. on Thursday, April 23rd. Work assigned on April 27th should be completed and returned by 11.30 a.m. on Thursday, April 30th at the latest. You can submit it earlier if you wish to do so. Please note that some of your teachers may wish to engage more frequently with you to support and consolidate your learning - please cooperate fully with them. You should take a break and rest over the May Bank Holiday weekend. If you wish to do more, please feel free to contact teachers in the normal way over the course of this week. You are mature, young adults. It is at your discretion how you manage your time, between helping at home, doing school work and taking a break and rest. We trust you to do this as best suits your personal circumstances. Please ensure that you pace yourself and, on days of your choosing, take a complete break from exam preparation.
Above all, please look after yourself and commit to doing your best for yourselves over these weeks.
We look forward to seeing you all soon.
Many thanks.
E. Gaughran, A. Wafer and the School Community.
